About

DJTranceman
DjTranceman came to the decks late and to the music early. He was on the floor in Oslo in the early 1990s, when house music was finding its footing in Norway and the rave scene was still something you heard about by word of mouth. Warehouses, basements, one-night parties on the edge of the city. He was there as the sound arrived, and the feeling of a room becoming one organism moving to a single pulse never left him. For the next three decades his working life ran elsewhere. He built and joined startups from the early 90s onward, and that life took him around the world: years as a resident in Denmark, in the USA and up in the Arctic, before the road led him back to Oslo. Through all of it the music stayed close. He collected, he listened, he stood at the front of other people’s sets, and he carried a photographer’s eye and a lifelong fascination for art and light design wherever he went. Five years ago he bought his first set of decks and started to play with the thought of becoming an artist. What began as a late-night curiosity turned into a calling. He learned the craft the way he had learned everything else, by building it himself, and the last two years have changed everything: the name got out, the bookings started lining up, and DjTranceman went from a bedroom project to a working artist with a calendar. He plays under two names that reflect two sides of the same passion. As DjTranceman he dives into goa and psytrance: long, hypnotic sets built on acid lines, driving basslines and melodies that open slowly and land at sunrise. As DjHouseman he is a well-known house DJ, warmer and groovier, rooted in the Oslo sound he grew up with and carrying it forward for a new generation of dancers. What sets him apart is that he never thought of a DJ set as sound alone. He runs his own visuals, shaping light and image in real time to follow the arc of the music rather than loop in the background. And he does not play alone: dancers are part of every show, turning the booth into a stage and the set into a performance you watch as much as you hear. Home today is Brattvaag near Aalesund on Norway’s west coast, the town where he grew up, and he is resident there between the fjords and the mountains. From Brattvaag he travels Scandinavia in a full-size 1992 Chevy Blazer loaded with every piece of gig equipment he needs: decks, lights, visuals and the lot. The road trips are half the point. He goes for the nature as much as the gigs, and he brings his sound to wherever a floor is waiting. The last year has opened a new chapter. DjTranceman has been in the studio making his own music, and his first tracks in the goa and psy genre are due for release soon. They carry the DNA of those early Oslo nights, the long winters of the north, the patience of someone who waited thirty years to step behind the decks, and the visual sensibility of a lifetime spent looking at light. Book DjTranceman for the trance floor, DjHouseman for the house floor, and expect sound, light and movement to come as one.
